Home on the Grange, in Lee, is excited to announce a special concert with Kathleen Gorey-McSorley on Friday, Sept. 23, at 7:00.   Only 16 years old, this Celtic fiddler has spent the last year thrilling audiences in Ireland, the United States and various parts of Canada

Kathleen’s latest CD “Ceol Binn” (Irish For Sweet Music) has been nominated for an ECMA award as Roots/Traditional Solo Recording of the Year and was nominated for Traditional Roots Recording of the Year and Instrumental Recording of the Year at the Music New Brunswick Awards.  This CD is getting air time on radio stations throughout the Maritimes, Ireland and the US.

She won the slow aires competition at the mid-Atlantic Fleadh in New York and competed in the All Ireland Fleadh in Cavan Town, Co. Cavan in the summer of 2010.  Kathleen had the audiences clapping their hands and tapping their feet last year with her traditional tunes and dancing at both the “Grand Lake Stream Folk Art Festival”  and PEI’s “Festival of Small Halls”.       Kathleen was pleased to have been selected to perform in the all-star Fiddlefest at the Music Awards Gala at the East Coast Music Awards in April.  She has just returned from Vienna and Salzburg, Austria where she performed with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra and will be performing at Canada’s Irish Festival on the Miramichi.

Kathleen is thrilled to be performing at Home On The Grange before heading off on tour in Newfoundland and Ireland, and we are thrilled to have her.  Don't miss this opportunity!  Tickets are $10 and are available at the Artisans' Store at Home on the Grange, by calling 738-4696, or emailing dragonflyinc@fairpoint.net

Home on the Grange is proud to announce that Evergreen, Maine's Premier American Roots Music Ensemble, will return to the stage on Saturday, August 6 at 7:00. This year's show is extra special, as Evergreen is celebrating their 20th year of playing together.  Over the years they have crafted a mix of upbeat, energizing music that appeals to a wide range of listeners.  Their eclectic style blends elements of bluegrass, folk, blues, old-timey, country and swing.  Band members include Steve Chiasson - guitar, vocals;  Chris Prickett - banjo, fiddle,  accordion and vocals;  Joe Kennedy- harmonica, bass  and vocals;  and Nell Kennedy - upright bass, mandolin and vocals.

Evergreen's shows are choreographed around a single mic, and they all take turns fronting the band - giving the audience a chance to get acquainted with each of them.  They are well known for their tight harmonies, solid instrumentation, original interpretation and strong songwriting.

Evergreen is relaxed and comfortable on stage, where their good natured banter and stories add to the performance.  Their repertoire is always evolving , so every show has a fresh feeling.   Home on the Grange, with its warm acoustics and intimate atmosphere,  is an ideal setting for this band.  This show promises to be one of the season's best.

Tickets are $15, and can be purchased at The Artisans'  Store, by calling 738-4696, or emailing dragonflyinc@fairpoint.net.   Come early and enjoy an old fashioned hand-dipped ice cream treat or look around the Artisans' Store for some inspiring gift ideas.
